Michael Glass, poet/designer/surfer, arrived in Hawaii in 1973 aboard a 52 catamaran and has made the islands his home for over 35 years. Fascinated by the Polynesian mythology, and with the deepest respect for its' cultural traditions, he has consistently sought to blend traditional native designs with contemporary materials and techniques in the belief that a culture is most alive when it continues to grow and explore new directions in which to express its values. It is his hope that the pieces created as part of the Ocean Spirit Collection and manufactured by Metal Arts Group will help to remind us that the world of myth and magic is still alive in the world around us today.
